Two Lakes, two Countries and two National Parks (9 days holiday - 7 days cycling)

We offer transfer from the Ohrid Airport on arrival and departure day, accommodation in nice apartments in Ohrid region and guided bike tours for 5 days. The accomodation includes breakfast. On your bike tours you have lunch packets included. Late afternoon hours are reserved for you to rest on the Lakeshore and enjoy dinner in some of the local restaurants according to your preference. Depending on the arrival time on the arrival day we offer sightseeing of the Old town of Ohrid, where we will walk around the narrow streets or make a boat trip. We will also admire the view of the lake and explore the cultural sites.

Two days of the cycling tour include trip around the Ohrid Lake and visiting Albanian town of Pogradec where you spend the night (you have to take your passport and some clothes for the next day).

Day 1 Ohrid - Pogradec

We start on the way to Struga and continue to the old fisherman's village of Radozda. We will pass through a complex of old cave churches in Kalishta. We cross the border at Kjafasan to the Albanian side of Lake Ohrid. We go down to the village of Lin and take a coffee break there. After Lin we continue to cycle by the lake all the way to the town of Pogradec, where we have dinner, have a short walk around the town and spend the night.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue our trip towards Prespa Lake. Beautiful nature is all the way through, the way leading towards the bottom of the mountain Galichica on asphalt road. After 20 km is the final uphill from where we will see the Prespa Lake. We descend and pass through the village of Pustec. We continue to the village Zrnosko by the Lake, where we have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3

We take a break from cycling and we go hiking in the local mountain neighbouring villages. We will have lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon we will visit the Island "Maligrad" famous for it's unique plants and reptiles which exist there. Shaped like a tadpole, it contains some trees and an area of sand. There are also many caves suitable for wildlife. The island contains famous St. Mary Church. For dinner you will have the chance to taste local fish cooked in traditional way.

Day 4

After a beautiful ride close to the Prespa Lake we will cross the border and return to Macedonian territory. We will pass through the village of Stenje and take a coffee break there. We arrive at Lakeview Hotel where we have late lunch and spend the night.

Day 5

We continue cycling on the Macedonian side of Prespa Lake, through Prespa region famous for production of apples. We will pass through the beautiful villages located at the bottom of Baba mountain: Rajca, Slivnica, Krani, Ljubojno and we end the journey at Brajchino village.
We will see the unique architecture of authentic Macedonian houses. We will have dinner and spend the night at Brajchino village.
Length: 40km, ascending:200m, skill level: 35, time: 3-4 hours.

Day 6

We return the same way back and from Oteshevo we start climbing National Park Galichica. There is a long uphill so the vehicle will support us to the Baba Pass. Climbing to 1400 meters from where we have breathtaking view of the Lake Ohrid. We descend to the village of Trpejca. We have late lunch and spend the night at Trpejca, one of the most beautiful villages on Ohrid riviera.

Day 7

From Trpejca we head to St. Naum Monastery, Eastern orthodox monastery. It is a beautiful complex of churches located on the East side of Ohrid Lake. It is the most popular tourist location in Macedonia. We take a coffee break in some of the beautiful coffee bars there. The last part is 28 km from St. Naum to Ohrid, on rolling road we cycle through the National Park Galichica. Half way we stop to visit the old settlement Bay of Bones. It is a Museum on water and an archaeological complex located close to Gradishte and Peshtani along Ohrid coast. Length: 40km, ascending: 300m, skill level: 40, time: 4 hours.

We can organize transfer from Skopje, Tirana or Prishtine airports but this is not included in the price.

Price includes: 6 nights in apartments or guest houses in rooms with ensuite facilities incl.breakfast. English- speaking guide, bike rental, bike equipment (helmet, backpack, locker), technical support of the bikes.

The price does not include: dinners, travel insurance, entrance fees, tips, boat trip, airport transfer from and to Skopje, Prishtine and Tirana airports.

Price 1590 EUR per person. Minimum number of people 4, maximum number of people 10.

Good to know:

- Bikes: hardtail mountain bike or hybrid bike
- Roads: we use mainly village asphalt roads with little traffic, road conditions are relatively good with some exceptions (bumpy sections, potholes, rough asphalt). Short off road sections can be added.
- Guide: The guide often checks if everything is OK with the group, waiting by crossroads, accompanying them for lunch packet stops and giving them talks by the most interesting sites en-route.

We recommend trip in the period: April – November

Necessary equipment: All riders must wear a helmet at all times riding. It is optional for riders to bring their own helmets or rent one of ours. Cycling gloves, breathable clothes (different ones for changing each day), waterproof gear, cycling shoes/trainers, swimming suit, sunscreen lotion; sunglasses with UV protection.
